Role Overview
An Andrology Physician specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of male reproductive health and urogenital disorders, focusing on conditions such as infertility, erectile dysfunction, and hormonal imbalances to optimize men’s health and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and manage male reproductive and sexual health issues, including infertility work-ups, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, and hypogonadism.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (semen analysis, hormone panels, scrotal ultrasound, urodynamics) to guide treatment decisions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medical therapies (e.g., pharmacologic agents, hormone replacement), minimally invasive procedures, or surgical referrals.
  • Provide counseling on lifestyle factors (nutrition, exercise, stress management) and fertility preservation options (cryopreservation, assisted reproductive technologies).
  • Collaborate with urologists, reproductive endocrinologists, and fertility specialists to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Stay current with advances in andrology research, reproductive technologies, and clinical guidelines to inform best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with completed residency in Urology or relevant surgical specialty, plus fellowship training or extensive experience in Andrology/Reproductive Medicine.
  • Board certification (or eligibility) in Urology and/or subspecialty certification in Andrology or Male Reproductive Medicine.
  • Proficiency in interpreting laboratory and imaging studies pertinent to male fertility and sexual function.
  • Strong procedural skills for office-based interventions (e.g., semen aspiration, penile injections) and familiarity with surgical management pathways.
  • Excellent communication and patient-education skills, with sensitivity to psychosocial aspects of male reproductive health.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development in andrology and men’s health.
